The Beautiful Bosham Harbour Shoreline

We've always known that we're based in a stunning and peaceful part of the UK, but Airbnb have recently listed Bosham as one of the Top 10 places in the UK for a Staycation.

Our luxury Self Catering Cottages and gorgeous boutique Glamping spots are a short 7 minute drive from Bosham Harbour, so we thought we should tell you more about this part of the world, and its hidden treasures.

History

When painters capture stunning views of the harbour they often feature the famous Bosham Holy Trinity Church which dates back to Saxon and Norman times over 1000 years ago. It is said to contain the grave of King Canute's un-named daughter, and some have ventured to say that Bosham Harbour is famously the place that King Canute tried to stop the tide.

Shopping

If you're looking for some unique gifts or mementoes of your trip, why not visit the local arts and crafts centre Bosham Walk. Here you can watch artists and craftsmen at work, and paint your own ceramics, as well as browsing a selection of handmade products from 20 different shops, all in a pretty old world setting.

Places to Eat

There are lots of lovely places to eat in Bosham and the Harbour. There are a few of of our favourites.

From delicious breakfast buns, to hot pasties, and yummy crab sandwiches, you'll be spoilt for choice for your harbour side picnic at this cafe.

A small but perfectly formed cafe, serving hot drinks, homemade savouries, sandwiches and cakes. Ideal for refuelling on route whilst on a picturesque bike ride.

For delicious Kelly's ice cream by the scoop, hot and cold drinks, and other sweet treats.

This is the resident tea room at Bosham Walk. Perfect for a cuppa and a slice of cake after a brisk walk around the harbour.

Activities

Walking

Keep it simple and take a scenic walk around Bosham village and the Quay. The road around the harbour gets flooded at high tide, so keep an eye on the tide timetables to make sure you can walk all the way around the harbour.

Watersports

If you're feeling more adventurous, why not hire a paddle board or perhaps take a Kayaking trip at nearby Chichester Harbour.

Cycling

There are lots of beautiful cycle routes along the harbour, and further afield into Chichester. Hayling Island Cycle Hire will drop off and collect bikes at your preferred location so you can cycle along the route you fancy.

If these ideas have inspired you, why not book your holiday today at our Luxury Cottages or choose from our boutique Glamping options such as our Gypsy Wagon, Woodland Wagon, or Belle Tent.
